Privacy Policy
Effective September 27, 2026 · Version 2026-09-27
Pace is operated by Bryce Hauter. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the Pace budgeting web application, including on a mobile browser. For privacy questions or requests, email brycehaut13@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account and profile information: your email address, authentication information, display name, time zone, life stage, and preferences you provide.
- Information you enter: balances, income, budgets, transactions, bills, goals, important dates, and optional personalization responses.
- Connected financial information: if you authorize a connection through Plaid, Pace receives institution and account identifiers, account names and types, masked account numbers when available, balances, and transaction details such as amounts, dates, descriptions, merchants, and categories. For investment connections, Pace receives account and holdings information to determine account values; the current feature stores account values and does not retain individual securities or positions.
- Billing information: when paid subscriptions are available and you choose one, Stripe processes payment details. Pace stores billing identifiers and subscription, payment, invoice, and trial status needed to manage access. Pace does not store full payment-card numbers.
- Technical and support information: our service providers process connection information such as IP addresses, browser information, request and authentication logs. We receive information you send when requesting help.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate users, connect and update authorized accounts, organize financial activity, calculate budget and spending guidance, personalize the features you choose, manage subscriptions, provide support, investigate errors or misuse, and maintain the service. Pace is a budgeting tool and does not move money between your financial accounts.
Bank connections and your authorization
Connecting a financial account is optional. Before starting a connection or repair, Pace asks you to authorize collection, processing, and storage of the financial information described here for its budgeting features. Plaid and, where applicable, your financial institution also present their authorization screens. You choose which accounts to share. Pace can retrieve updated information while the connection remains authorized; automatic syncing is managed through the app.
Pace uses Plaid to connect to financial institutions. Your bank sign-in details are handled in Plaid or your institution’s flow, not stored by Pace. Plaid’s handling of information is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
Who receives information
Pace uses Supabase for authentication and database services, Vercel for hosting, Plaid for financial connections, and Stripe for payments when enabled. These providers process information needed for their services. Email sent to the privacy address is handled through Gmail. Provider privacy information is available from Supabase, Vercel, Stripe, and Google.
The operator may access information as needed to support users, maintain the service, or investigate security issues. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or protection of legal rights. Pace does not sell personal financial data or share it for targeted advertising.
Cookies and browser storage
Pace uses cookies and browser storage for sign-in, session security, bank-connection redirects, and interface behavior. These are used to operate the application. Clearing or blocking them may sign you out or interrupt a bank connection.
Storage and security
Information is processed using cloud providers and may be processed in the United States or other locations where those providers operate. Pace uses HTTPS, database access restrictions, and the providers’ storage encryption. Plaid access tokens receive additional application-level encryption before database storage. Authorized infrastructure administrators can access application data; this is not end-to-end encryption. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and deletion
Pace retains account and financial history while your account remains open to provide budgeting and historical views. Disconnecting a bank stops future retrieval through that connection and revokes its access token, but it does not by itself erase previously imported history. To request removal of specific information, contact the privacy email.
You can request account deletion in Your account → Your data. The process revokes connected bank access before deleting associated application records and your sign-in account. A provider failure can pause completion; the app displays the error so you can retry or contact us. Larger exports and cases the self-service flow cannot handle require assistance.
Copies in provider backups, operational logs, support correspondence, and records needed for applicable legal obligations can remain after deletion from the active application. Providers have their own retention practices; we do not promise immediate erasure from every provider system. Pace has not yet established a single automated retention period for every data category. Contact us for information about a particular record or deletion request.
Your choices and requests
You can use manual budgeting without linking a bank, change information you entered, adjust optional personalization, disconnect accounts, download your data, or request account deletion. You can also manage Plaid connections at my.plaid.com. Disconnecting there does not itself delete data already stored in Pace.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of personal information. Send requests or concerns to brycehaut13@gmail.com. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity and will handle applicable requests as required by law. Do not email passwords, bank credentials, or full card or account numbers.
Children
Pace is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
Changes to this policy
Updates will be published on this page with a revised effective date. For material changes to how information is used, we will provide additional notice and request further consent where required before applying those changes.
